The Urge’Run#3 and 4 finish the adventure in style!

Sunday the 13th of February: two real enduro runs to close this Urge Cabo Verde… with a Vouilloz on fire! While Clémentz was suffering from his finger, maybe broken.
We finally got the same podium as the Urge Events 1 and 2…. But in a different order…
An intense week finishes after really “Ultimate” runs and adventure, in an excellent atmosphere, that never went down in spite of the tiredness and the last minute changes.

Run of sunday morning take place in Matinho, island of Santo Antao.
Double podium for Trek !
René Wildhaber win by 5” before Barel and 9” before Vouilloz, Tracy Moseley win with a large advance.
Jérôme Clementz has a small handicap because of a finger injure he made yesterday in the run 2 of Cova de Paul.

Le Urge'Run#2 aura bien lieu...

Samedi 12 février, après bine des déboires, les pilotes retrouvent leurs vélos aux environs de midi, le run 2 qui avait failli être annulé pourra finalement se dérouler !
Changement total de décor donc, pour se retrouver sur les crêtes de "Cova de Paul" au cœur du massif montagneux de Santo-Antao.
L'îles de Santo Antao est la plus montagneuse de toutes les îles du Cap-Vert, avec des à-pics impressionnants, c'est là que vont se dérouler les runs 2, 3 et 4...

Friday the 11th of February: so the team board on a boat around 8.30am to reach the Santiago Island. Nice weather, quiet sea, everyone make the most of it to recover from Thursday run.

The riders then board two small planes which will take them to Mindelo, on the Sao Vicente Island, by going through the Sal Island.

Thursday the 10th of February: riders, photographers, cameraman and staff rolled up their sleeves for the three and a half hours climb to reach the base camp on the peak of the Fogo volcano, few 1000m higher.
Chris Gallo, also known as Poulet, keeps building his legend by arriving first on the top and wining the “Pep’s Trophy”!!!
From the top, the view on the archipelago is fantastic, the sun is right on time, everybody is tired but ready to go. Only down side, Fred Glo, while walking the track, realized that the run is a lot worse since the last pre ride check…

The first trophy of this Urge Cabo Verde, the Pep’s Trophy, has just been won (the stylish way!) by Chris Gallo. Perfect occasion to take a look on the four trophies on this adventure...
The four runs of this Urge Cabo Verde will be followed by the four trophies ceremony:

Wednesday the 9th of February: after a first night in the middle of the caldeira of Fogo, the riders hoped on their bikes for a training and “getting-used-to-the-terrain” day.
First falls, first fears: the terrain won’t be easy to deal with…
General moral is up, the surroundings are magnificent. Around 10am, the morning mist disappeared and the sun is right on time.
Our base camp in the crater is a guest house cut in the lava in the middle of vineyards that grow on the caldeira… yes, it (...)

Tuesday the 8th of February: The team went to the Pedro Gomez School and the riders were able to meet two of the four associations that Urge Cabo Verde will support. They were able to exchange with the children and to get a accurate vision of the way the funds will be used on the Santiago Island.
Few hours of a rich human interaction, finished by a meal all together… a nice way to celebrate in the middle of the kids the 35th birthday of Nicolas Vouilloz!!!
Then direction the port to wait under the sun for the boat that will bring riders and bikes on the Fogo Island.

Monday, February the 7th, riders and staff met at Charles de Gaulle airport to fly to Praia, capital of Cape Verde...
First episode: Hans Rey’s bike hasn’t arrived, it is somewhere between Los Angeles and Paris… we need to find a B plan...
Landed on the archipelago around 3 in the afternoon, then to the hotel, first brief and discovery the city.
